I was shopping around here in Alaska for teen auto insurance and was surprised that most of them are really expensive. Why is this so?

Bert, you should not really be surprised to see the prices of auto insurance premiums for teen drivers because that is just normal. Even if you go online and ask for instant quotes from auto insurance companies on the Internet, you will still find that the range of prices is just similar. You are asking why this is so.
Teen auto insurance premiums cost more than the usual auto insurance policy for the reason that auto insurance companies are trying to protect their investments when they insure a teen driver, and for good reason. Statistics show that there are more incidents involving teen drivers in car crashes than there are incidents involving people from other age groups.
